Homeless Shelter Preparing Rescued Meals

Did you know that homeless shelters are not mandated by federal or state laws in all 50 states to provide meals to their clients? Sadly, according to the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA), between 30-40% of food in America goes uneaten and is wasted. Land of Promise (LOP) “Too Good to Toss Food Waste Program,” provide weekly meals to homeless shelters. This food, which would have otherwise been discarded, is rescued from restaurants.
This initiative not only helps to minimize food waste but also guarantees that those in need receive nutritious meals. By collaborating with Hanna Brothers, our surplus food donor, LOP redirect surplus food that meets safety regulations to shelters, turning potential waste into delicious, healthy meals for the homeless.
This program underscores the significance of sustainable practices and community support in tackling food insecurity while addressing environmental issues. Through these initiatives, LOP is making a substantial difference in the lives of many, offering hope and nourishment where it is most needed.
