Community Engagement
April 2026 Highlights
In April, Land of Promise (LOP) engaged in two noteworthy community events in collaboration with local organizations. LOP’s Community Food Distribution Program distributed healthy produce at a health festival. Furthermore, LOP’s Too Good to Toss Food Waste Program not only nourished the homeless but also educated high school seniors on food security initiatives.
Community Health Festival:
On April 18th, the South Fulton Alumni Chapter of Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity, in collaboration with Emory Healthcare and the City of South Fulton, launched their very first Community Health Festival. This event provided attendees with free health screenings, valuable resources, and educational materials on health. LOP was honored to serve as the vendor for fresh fruits and vegetables at this significant occasion.
Given the challenges of food deserts and affordability, access to fresh produce is greatly valued by the community. The South Fulton Alumni Chapter of Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity has already announced that the next Community Health Festival will take place on April 3, 2027. We look forward to seeing you there!
Feeding the Homeless:
On April 25th, LOP had the privilege of supporting the homeless through our Too Good to Toss Food Waste Program. This initiative took part in the 2026 Coca-Cola Scholars Foundation Community Impact Weekend, hosted by Metro Atlanta Urban Farms in College Park, Georgia. The scholars were exposed to various aspects of food security projects, ranging from planting vegetable fields to food distribution. LOP’s contribution involved training the scholars in preparing and delivering cooked meals to the homeless, as well as packaging non-perishable food boxes for those in need. This impactful collaboration enabled exceptional high school seniors to apply their experiences within communities nationwide.
April 2026 was a month filled with impactful activities and meaningful contributions for LOP. We are grateful for the chance to serve our community and teach the next generation. LOP eagerly anticipate more events and partnerships that will further impact the community.
