#GIVINGTUESDAY

The holiday season in America runs from late November to early January and it is associated with shopping, gifts, family meetings, parties and religious services. During the holidays, the retail companies coined “Black Friday”, the day after Thanksgiving for shoppers to take advantage of bargains. “Cyber Monday” was created by marketing companies in 2005 to persuade people to shop online the Monday after Thanksgiving. In 2012 “Giving Tuesday” was established as a movement that celebrates and supports giving and philanthropy on the Tuesday after Thanksgiving.

My mother told me, “You can never beat God’s giving no matter how hard you try.” My motto for giving is, “Give and it will be given to you” (Luke 6:38 New International Version). However, as the Founder of Land of Promise, I now understand the impact of receiving. Your financial donations are vital for charitable organizations to bring a smile to children, feed communities, provide clean water and cure diseases. For this reason, “Giving Tuesday” is so important to us and a great opportunity for you to donate to Land of Promise (LOP). Your donation will bring joy to hungry students who do not have enough food to eat on weekends.

As Americans, we are a bold, generous, big-hearted people.

When our brothers and sisters are in need,

we roll up our sleeves and get to work –

not for the recognition or the reward,

but because it’s the right thing to do.

Because there but for the grace of God go I.

And because here in America,

we rise or fall together,

as one nation and one people.

That’s something to be grateful for

today and every day.
